Herbed Dinner Rolls – Butter Swim Biscuits Easy Recipes

Herbed dinner rolls are the kind of comfort that doesn’t need a reason. Warm, soft, and just the right amount of herb-scented, they make even a Tuesday night feel like a mini celebration. These rolls don’t pretend to be fancy, but when you tear one open and steam drifts up into your face? That’s when you know—they’re the real deal. I’ve made these more times than I can count, usually when dinner needs a little more 'oomph' or when the soup’s too good to not have a sidekick. They’re simple enough to whip up on a whim, but trust me—when you put that tray on the table, you’ll look like you planned it a week ago. With dried herbs, a soft and golden top, and a dough that’s honestly pretty forgiving, this recipe plays nice whether you’re a seasoned baker or a nervous newbie. Let’s get some flour on our hands, shall we?

Ingredients

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ tsp)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (around 110°F)
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp melted butter, for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add in the olive oil, salt, rosemary, and thyme. Stir well.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms. Knead it for about 5-6 minutes on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops with melted butter.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown and delicious.
