  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Peel and core the apples, then slice them into 1/4-inch rings.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Dip each apple ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
  7. Carefully fry the apple rings in batches until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
  8. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
