Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and corn syrup until smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  3. Arrange bread slices over the sugar mixture in a single layer.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt. Pour evenly over the bread.
  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  6. In the morning, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  8. Serve warm, optionally topped with powdered sugar or fresh berries.
