Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread – Easy Recipes with Ground Beef

Let’s be real – sometimes, you just want something cheesy, toasty, and messy (in the best way). This Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread ticks all those boxes and then some 😍 I first made this on a whim during one of those 'what do I do with this pound of ground beef?' moments. Next thing I knew, the house smelled like a garlic bread truck collided with a comfort food explosion. And we didn’t complain. Not one bit. The mix of savory beef, garlicky butter, and melty cheese? It’s a flavor bomb you’ll want to make on repeat. Oh, and the best part? It’s quick. Like, “done-before-your-favorite-show-starts” quick. Perfect for a lazy dinner, a hangout snack, or when you forgot to thaw the chicken (again). You’re not alone. Trust me, this recipe saves the day 🧄🧀🥖

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder (for garlic butter)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Mix the softened butter with 2 tsp garlic powder. Spread it evenly on the cut sides of the French bread.
  5. Place the bread on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 5 minutes until edges are golden.
  6. Remove from oven, spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over the bread.
  7. Top with shredded mozzarella and bake again for 5–7 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Slice, sprinkle with parsley if you're feelin' fancy, and serve warm!
